General pricing

Please get in contact for a more detailed quote, as every project is different. Bookings require 50% to be paid as a deposit, with cancellation and refund details on your invoice.

Recording per day = $250 AUD for approx. eight (8) hours + studio dry hire fee. I often work out of The Black Lodge in Brunswick, Melbourne and can offer a small discount for working here.

Mixing per song = approx. $200 AUD for songs of up to five (5) minutes. Longer songs are quoted case by case. Larger projects, i.e. EPs and albums, usually involve some global settings across all songs, so you’ll get a few songs mixed free for larger projects.

Mastering per song = $50 AUD for songs of up to five (5) minutes. When I’m booked to mix & master, we can discuss a package deal. Larger projects, i.e. EPs and albums usually involve some global settings across all songs, so you’ll get a few songs mastered free for larger projects.

Mixing & mastering revisions = As a general guideline, I find 3-4 rounds of revisions are more than enough to get a project sounding its best - getting your songs right is my top priority. However, if after multiple rounds of revision we feel like we're no closer to a shared goal, we can have a chat to explore other avenues and options to get the project over the line. Note fees payable for unfinished mixes are charged case by case.

Editing, additional recording per hour, attended mixing, file assembly, consultations, producing, miscellaneous music work, work per hour = $50 AUD p/h. Recordings generally require a little editing, and file delivery to other mixers also requires an hour for organising the files for delivery.

F.A.Q.

How long can I expect to wait for my mixes?

I prioritise communication about deadlines and expectations, so this is usually something we’ll discuss when you’re making a booking. If time allows, I’ll generally send a ‘Ballpark mix’ first, to ensure we’re on the right track, and then dive into more involved and detailed mixing.

Generally, assuming you’ve booked in to mix and approved the ‘Ballpark mix’, you’ll have a first proper mix within a week of delivering files, depending on the size and scope of the project.

How long can I expect to wait for my masters?

Mastering is generally deliverable within 2-3 days of confirming your booking, assuming I have all relevant information to begin work. This includes track names (stylised and spell checked), track order, band name (stylised and spell checked), release name (stylised and spell checked), and information about transitions between songs.

How should we deliver files for mixing and/or mastering?

I work in ProTools, and prefer WAV files to be delivered, not a session file, ideally with a MIDI file to serve as a tempo map.

Do you do attended mixes?

Compiled and/or emailed mix notes are preferable. I’ll generally prefer to get a first mix finished alone, and open up attended mixes for revisions, mix notes and changes if required.

Attended mixes are paid under the hourly rate of $50 p/h. While mix revisions are included in your mix fee, attended mixing generally takes longer and requires a booking.
